Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi shines in May election

The National People’s Power (NPP) has won over 200 local councils based on results released so far.

According to results released thus far, the NPP has secured victories in 212 local bodies. Accordingly, the party has won 18 Municipal Councils, 25 Urban Councils, and 169 Pradeshiya Sabhas.

The party has secured a clear majority in nearly 100 local authorities, enabling them to form the administration independently. In other local authorities, however, it will have to depend on support from other parties to secure a majority of members’ support.

The Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has won 2 Municipal Councils, 1 Urban Council, and 30 Pradeshiya Sabhas.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has won 2 Urban Councils and 9 Pradeshiya Sabha,s while the All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC) has won two Urban Councils.
