IT, communications stocks lift share market
Sri Lankan shares closed higher, led by information technology and communication services stocks.
The CSE All-Share index settled 0.23% higher at 22,372.57 points.
Sathosa Motors and Convenience Foods Lanka were the top gainers by index points, up 99.5 points and 59.5 points respectively, on the day.
Trading volume on the index fell to 391 million shares from 57.44 million shares in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover rose to 5.74 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($18.96 million) from 5.68 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 300.65 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 5.50 billion rupees, the data showed.
