Mano Ganesan Hails Jaishankar’s $450 Million Pledge

Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with leaders and MPs representing the Malaiyaham, a recent Indian-origin community, at India House on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media afterwards, Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) leader Mano Ganesan, MP, said the delegation expressed gratitude to the Indian External Affairs Minister for announcing a $450 million aid package for Sri Lanka.

Ganesan highlighted the severe devastation faced by plantation residents and underscored their urgent need for “safe land.”

He noted that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had promised to allocate safe land plots for housing.

Ganesan requested that Dr. Jaishankar extend India’s ongoing housing programme to enable the construction of homes on these safe land plots provided by the Government of Sri Lanka.

He also conveyed appreciation for India’s support in rebuilding highway and railway infrastructure damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.
