Sivakarthikeyan’s film set for release on Jan. 10

The makers of Parasakthi heaved a sigh of relief as the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the movie for its release on the scheduled date of January 10, 2026. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the Tamil movie stars Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharva Murali, and Sreeleela in lead roles.

According to reports, the CBFC had asked the makers to make more than 20 cuts. Parasakthi centers on events from the anti-Hindi protests in Tamil Nadu in the 1960s. Following CBFC’s instructions, the director reportedly approached a revising committee, stating that the suggested cuts could affect the movie’s context.

However, just a day before the release of Parasakthi, the uncertainty surrounding the film ended when it received a U/A censor certificate. It appears the makers have adhered to the CBFC’s suggestions, though there hasn’t been an official statement from the production house on the development.

GV Prakash is the music composer of Parasakthi, while Ravi K Chandran is the cinematographer. This is Sudha’s second major movie on real-life incidents after the Suriya-starrer Soorarai Pottru, the biopic of Air Deccan founder Capt. GR Gopinath.

Parasakthi was set to clash with Vijay’s Jana Nayagan at the box office, but both Pongal releases have faced issues with the censor board.
