Nitin Nabin to be formally elected BJP president

The Bharatiya Janata Party has initiated the formal process to elect its national working president, Nitin Nabin, as the party president.

The election is likely to be held on Jan. 20.

All Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States, as well as State unit presidents and national office-bearers, have been asked to be present in Delhi for the nomination scheduled for Jan. 19 and the formal election the next day.

Three sets of nominations will be filed nominating Mr. Nabin for the national president’s post.

One set will include signatures from more than 20 elected BJP State chiefs.

Another will have the signatures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and J.P. Nadda.

The third will have the signatures of the members of the BJP National Council.
