Communication services stocks fall

Sri Lankan shares closed lower for the second straight ​session, with communication services stocks being the biggest drag on the index.

The CSE All-Share index settled 0.43 percent lower at 23,651.09 points.

Communication Services ‌stocks fall ‌1.43 percent, and real ‌estate stocks ⁠down ​0.97 percent.

Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) and Senkadagala Finance were the top percentage losers on the index, down 20 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively, on the day.

Trading volume on the index fell to 158.2 million shares from 351.1 million ‍in the previous session.

Equity market turnover fell to 3.55 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($11.47 million) from 6.31 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 500.6 million rupees, and domestic investors were also net sellers, offloading shares worth 3.05 billion rupees, according to the data.
