IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva arrives

A special delegation led by Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday on a three-day official visit.

The delegation was received at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, and other officials.

The Managing Director and the IMF Delegation are visiting the country to assess the damage and impact of Cyclone Ditwah. They are also scheduled to visit the Gampola area tomorrow (17) morning.

Subsequently, discussions are scheduled in Colombo with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya, Central Bank Governor Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe, and other representatives.

Particular attention will be given to post-disaster recovery efforts and to the assistance the IMF can extend to support Sri Lanka’s restoration and the building of a stronger future for all Sri Lankans.
