Shares close lower as broad losses weigh

Sri ‌Lankan shares closed lower on Thursday, weighed down by ​losses across most sectors.

The CSE All-Share index closed 2.1% down at 21,419.94, snapping two sessions of gains.

Paragon Ceylon PLC and Fortress Resorts PLC were the biggest losers on the CSE All-Share index, falling 8.9% and 8.7%, respectively.

Trading volume fell to 176.3 million shares ⁠from 299.7 million in ‌the ‌previous session.

The ​equity market’s ‌turnover fell to ‌3.27 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($10.4 million), compared with 6.42 billion rupees in the previous ‌session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors ⁠were ⁠net sellers, offloading stocks worth 56.8 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 3.21 billion rupees, data showed.
