‘Vote for Vijay will help AIADMK, BJP’
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan on Monday said that a vote for actor-politician Vijay or the AIADMK would effectively benefit the BJP and claimed that the actor had been “fielded” to divide votes.
Campaigning in support of M.H. Jawahirullah of Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), who is contesting as part of the DMK alliance in the Nagapattinam Assembly constituency, Mr. Thirumavalavan addressed a public meeting at Nagai Avurithidal.
“Voting for Vijay is a vote for the BJP. Voting for the AIADMK is also a vote for the BJP. Vijay has been made to contest this election by the BJP,” he alleged.
Mr. Vijay had not taken clear positions on issues such as social justice, secularism, caste violence, economic development, and Tamil Nadu’s growth, and was focused primarily on opposing the DMK and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Mr. Thirumavalavan alleged that attempts were being made to divide minority votes and reiterated that the VCK would not shift alliances for electoral gains. “For us, secularism and social justice are paramount,” he said
