Palaniswami rejects exit polls

Rejecting the exit polls, most of which forecast a victory for the DMK-led alliance in the recently conducted Assembly election in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami expressed hope his party would win in 210 constituencies.

“Our party’s uniqueness is that it has always demolished the exit polls and risen in every election. It would continue to do so in this election as well. The AIADMK will certainly win in 210 constituencies. The AIADMK will form the government with a majority,” Mr. Palaniswami said in a statement.

Suspecting a “conspiracy” behind such exit polls, Mr. Palaniswami said DMK president M.K. Stalin was aware that his party would lose and that the DMK partymen would attempt to create the impression that the DMK was set to win. Mr. Palaniswami further warned of attempts by the DMK party members to incite riots and create confusion.

Calling upon his partymen not to be disturbed by the exit polls, Mr. Palaniswami said they were only attempts to divert the people of Tamil Nadu as well as the AIADMK partymen. Mr. Palaniswami said late AIADMK leaders M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa stood guard for their partymen.

Recalling exit polls in 2011, which predicted that the DMK would continue to remain in power, Mr. Palaniswami went on to point out that the AIADMK had emerged victorious that time.]
