Shares log first gain in 7 sessions
Sri Lankan shares closed higher on Tuesday, snapping a six-session losing streak, aided by gains across sectors.
The CSE All-Share index closed up 0.67% at 21,547.17, its first gain in seven sessions after a 4.4% slide over the previous six.
Agalawatte Plantations and Colombo Fort Investments were the top percentage gainers on the CSE All-Share index, rising 4.3% and 3.3%, respectively.
Trading volume on the index fell to 73 million shares from 88.1 million in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover fell to 2.16 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($6.42 million) from 2.61 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 50.6 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 2.14 billion rupees, the data showed.=
