Shares edge up on IT, healthcare gains

Sri ‌Lankan shares closed higher on Thursday, led by gains ​in healthcare and IT stocks.

The CSE All-Share index settled 0.22% higher at 22,436.14 points.

Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC and Serendib Land ‌PLC were ‌the top ​percentage ‌gainers ⁠on ​the index, up ⁠16.7% and 8.5%, respectively.

Trading volume on the index fell to 103.9 million shares from 107 million ⁠shares in the ‌previous ‌session.

The equity market’s turnover rose to 3.12 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($9.4 million) from 2.56 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net ⁠sellers, ⁠offloading stocks worth 494.8 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 2.96 billion rupees, the data showed.
