Gains in communication, IT stocks
Sri Lankan shares closed higher on Friday, led by communication services and information technology stocks, marking their second straight week of gains after a five-week losing streak.
The CSE All-Share index settled up 0.39% at 21,623.17, closing the week 1.1% higher.
Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC and Softlogic Capital PLC were the top percentage gainers on the CSE All-Share index
Trading volume on the index fell to 76 million shares from 76.7 million in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover fell to 2.24 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($6.7 million) from 2.78 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 723.7 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 2.21 billion rupees, the data showed.
