Presidential Secretariat Inaugurates ISO 37001:2025 Anti-Bribery Management System Workshop to Strengthen Public Sector Integrity

The Presidential Secretariat inaugurated a comprehensive two-day workshop today on the implementation of ISO 37001:2025 – Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS).

Organized as a key component of the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) program, the initiative aims to strengthen the public sector’s capacity to prevent bribery and corruption and to reinforce institutional integrity by adopting internationally recognized compliance standards.

The workshop, scheduled for 18 and 19 August 2026 at the Main Auditorium of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, brings together 75 officials representing selected Ministries, Departments, banks, and private-sector companies.

The capacity-building program is being conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the European Union, and is led by an international resource expert.

The inauguration ceremony took place from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., marking the official commencement of the program.

Ms Chandima Wickramasinghe, Additional Secretary to the President, delivered the opening remarks, while Dr N. S. Kumanayake, Secretary to the President, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the Government’s commitment to transparent governance.

The ceremony also featured a guest speech by Resource Expert Mr Praveen Kumar Pasricha and special remarks by Ms Sumathy L. Rajasingham, National Quality Infrastructure Specialist Representative for UNIDO.

The adoption and implementation of the ISO 37001:2025 standard marks a significant milestone in the national effort to operationalize Internal Affairs Units (IAUs) within government institutions, ensuring a systematic, proactive and robust approach to preventing bribery and corruption.
