Shares up on gains in materials, utilities stocks
Sri Lankan shares closed higher on Friday, led by gains in materials and utilities stocks.
The CSE All Share Index settled up 0.05% at 21,416.61, but closed the week 1.1% lower.
Kotmale Holdings PLC and Sierra Cables PLC were the top percentage gainers on the CSE All Share Index.
Trading volume on the CSE All Share Index rose to 50.3 million shares from 40.8 million in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover fell to 1.22 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($3.7 million) from 1.50 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 88.7 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 1.19 billion rupees, the data showed.
