Shares up on gains in materials, utilities stocks

Sri ‌Lankan shares closed higher on Friday, led by gains in ​materials and utilities stocks.

The CSE All Share Index settled up 0.05% at 21,416.61, but closed the week ‌1.1% lower.

Kotmale Holdings ​PLC ‌and ⁠Sierra ​Cables PLC were ⁠the top percentage gainers on the CSE All Share Index.

Trading volume on the CSE All Share Index rose ⁠to 50.3 million shares ‌from ‌40.8 million in ​the previous ‌session.

The equity market’s ‌turnover fell to 1.22 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($3.7 million) from 1.50 billion rupees ‌in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign ⁠investors ⁠were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 88.7 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 1.19 billion rupees, the data showed.
