Discussion on the Implementation of the “Subhaga”, “Technology” and “Sujatha Diyani” Scholarship Programs by the President’s Fund

The Presidential Secretariat held a discussion on expanding the “Subhaga”, “Technology” and “Sujatha Diyani” scholarship programs currently implemented by the Ministry of Education, and on implementing them through the President’s Fund, under the chairmanship of Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

In accordance with the directives of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, extensive discussions were held on implementing the “Subhaga”, “Technology” and “Sujatha Diyani” scholarship programs through the President’s Fund, incorporating necessary and timely changes to the programs and enabling the relevant allowances to be provided to a larger number of students.

Accordingly, discussions were held on the possibility of increasing, from next year, the monthly allowance paid under the “Sujatha Diyani” and “Technology” scholarship programs from Rs. 750 to Rs. 1,500, increasing the number of students receiving the scholarships from 950 to 1,000, and making all payments through the President’s Fund.

It was also decided to expedite the payment of outstanding scholarship allowances due to the students.

Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, Additional Secretary (School Affairs) of the Ministry of Education W. A. Neelika Perera, Chief Financial Officer A. S. D. Aluthge, Director of Education (School Affairs) N. G. S. Siriwardena, and a group of senior officials from the Ministry of Education and the President’s Fund also attended the occasion.
