Northern Province Divisional Secretariats honored

Northern Province Divisional Secretariats Recognized for Outstanding Performance in Decentralizing President’s Fund Services

The “Mehewara Pasasum” program, held to recognize Divisional Secretariats in the Northern Province that demonstrated outstanding performance in 2025 in decentralizing President’s Fund services to the Divisional Secretariat level, took place at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat under the patronage of Speaker of Parliament Dr Jagath Wickramaratne.

The initiative aims to provide more efficient and prompt services to the public.

A total of 15 Divisional Secretariats were recognized. Three Divisional Secretariats from each of the five districts of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Mullaitivu and Vavuniya were selected based on their efficiency in receiving President’s Fund applications and responding to them promptly.

Accordingly, in the Jaffna District, Nallur Divisional Secretariat secured first place, Chavakachcheri Divisional Secretariat secured second place, and Valikamam East Divisional Secretariat secured third place.

In the Kilinochchi District, the Kilinochchi Divisional Secretariat secured first place, the Poonakary Divisional Secretariat secured second place, and the Pachchilippalli Divisional Secretariat secured third place.

In the Mannar District, the Nanaddan Divisional Secretariat secured first place, the Mannar Town Divisional Secretariat secured second place, and the Manthai West Divisional Secretariat secured third place.

In the Mullaitivu District, the Maritimepattu Divisional Secretariat secured first place, the Oddusuddan Divisional Secretariat secured second place, and the Manthai East Divisional Secretariat secured third place.

In the Vavuniya District, the Vavuniya Divisional Secretariat secured first place, the Vavuniya North Divisional Secretariat secured second place, and the Vengalacheddikulam Divisional Secretariat secured third place.

Speaker of Parliament Dr Jagath Wickramaratne, Members of Parliament Sella Thambinathan and M. Jegadeeswaran, provincial public representatives, President’s Senior Additional Secretary and Secretary to the President’s Fund Roshan Gamage, District Secretaries, and other government officials attended the event.
