Shares snap 6-session losing streak

Sri ‌Lankan shares closed higher, snapping a six-session losing streak, on ​Thursday as gains in consumer discretionary and real estate stocks outweighed losses in IT and energy stocks.

The CSE All-Share index ‌settled up ‌0.33% at 20,880.90.

SMB ‌Finance ⁠PLC ​and Waskaduwa ⁠Beach Resort PLC were the top percentage gainers on the CSE All-Share index, rising 33.33% and 13.33%, respectively.

Trading volume on ⁠the index rose ‌to 65.4 ‌million shares from 58.8 ​million shares ‌in the previous ‌session.

The equity market’s turnover fell to 1.43 billion rupees ($4.33 million) from 1.55 billion ‌rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

⁠Foreign ⁠investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 139.6 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 1.39 billion rupees, the data showed.
