Communication services stocks boost CSE

Sri Lankan shares advanced, lifted by strength across most sectors, with communication services contributing the most.

The CSE All-Share index settled 0.7% higher at 23,502.59 points.

Renuka Foods and Bogala Graphite were the top percentage gainers on the benchmark index, rising 34.2% and 25%, respectively.

Trading volume on the CSE All-Share climbed to 253 million shares from 208.5 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover rose to 7.52 billion Sri Lankan rupees (about $25 million) from 6.71 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

* Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 532 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 7.42 billion rupees, the data showed.
