Broad gains lift Lanka shares higher

Sri ‌Lankan shares closed higher on Wednesday, snapping a five-day losing ​streak, led by broad-based gains.

The CSE All-Share index settled 1.09% higher at 20,640.63 points.

Sri Lanka’s economy grew 5% year-on-year in 2025, driven by strong industrial activity.

Alpha ⁠Fire ​Services and ⁠Kapruka Holdings were the top percentage gainers on the index, up 24.3% and 20.42%, respectively, on the day.

Trading volume ⁠on the index slightly ‌fell ‌to 216.3 million shares ​from 273.8 ‌million shares in the ‌previous session.

The equity market’s turnover rose to 5.27 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($16.93 million) ‌from 5.03 billion rupees in the previous session, according ⁠to ⁠exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 296 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 5.17 billion rupees, the data showed.
