EPS accuses Sengottaiyan of being a ‘DMK spy’
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami launched a sharp attack on K.A. Sengottaiyan, accusing him of arrogance, disloyalty, and acting against party interests. He was campaigning for the party’s candidate, V.B. Prabhu, in the Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency.
Taking a dig at the former Minister in his home turf, from where he was elected eight times as an AIADMK candidate, Mr. Palaniswami alleged that the MLA had “treated the people of the constituency like slaves” and owed his electoral success to party functionaries and cadre, rather than personal merit.
Referring to past events, Mr. Palaniswami said the leader’s wife and son had met then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat and lodged a complaint against him, following which his ministerial post was taken away. “If he was loyal, why was his post removed?” he asked.
Mr. Palaniswami admitted that inducting him into the Cabinet was a mistake. “He pleaded and shed tears. Once, he was my friend, but does he deserve that respect now? Can we forgive this person?” he asked.
