National Scout Service launched
The launch ceremony of the National Scout Service and Public Relations Project 2026 of the Sri Lanka Scout Association was held at the Presidential Secretariat, under the patronage of Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
At the ceremony, Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake was welcomed by being presented with and adorned with the National Scout scarf.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Scout Commissioner Attorney-at-Law Manoj Nanayakkara expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to conduct the program under the patronage of the Secretary to the President, on the instructions of Chief Scout and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
He said that providing Scout services is not an activity carried out solely for the purpose of raising funds, adding that one of the key objectives of Scout service activities is to create a compassionate future generation by enabling children from an early age to practically understand the value of the effort and labor adults undertake on their behalf.
Delivering the keynote address, Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake said steps would be taken to prepare a plan outlining the activities that could be carried out by the Scout Movement, which comprises members across the country, in collaboration with the Government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” program.
The Secretary to the President appreciated the contribution of the Scout Movement towards developing leadership skills, personality, self-confidence, and a spirit of service among children and young people, thereby helping them become good and responsible citizens. He also stated that, on the President’s instructions, all necessary support would be provided to ensure the successful implementation of the Scout Movement’s future activities.
Thereafter, Scout representatives officially commenced the National Scout Service activities. Following the observation and evaluation of the service activities, Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake signed a commemorative card prepared to mark the launch of the program.

A. D. R. Indika Balachandra were among those present.
A group of Cub Scouts, Junior Scouts, Scouts and Rover Scouts, as well as Scout leaders representing all sections of the Scout Movement, also participated in the occasion.
