Sri Lanka: India’s Buddhist heritage to be showcased

The High Commission of India in Colombo is organizing a Buddhist Exhibition at the Sri Sambodhi Maha Vihara Temple on the occasion of Medin Poya.

The exhibition showcases India’s rich Buddhist heritage. It includes a series of photographs depicting significant episodes from the Buddha’s life and some of the country’s prominent Buddhist pilgrimage sites.

It underlines our deep cultural connection and shared heritage and history.

It also promotes our shared objective of advancing our people-to-people ties to strengthen our age-old bonds of friendship and cooperation.

The High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka, visited the Sri Sambodhi Maha Vihara Temple and toured the exhibition.

He attended the Pooja ceremony along with the Chief Prelate of the Sri Sambodhi Viharaya and the Chairperson of the Bauddhaya TV Channel, Ven. Boralande Wajiragnana Thero.This Buddhist exhibition is the second in the mobile exhibition series that will be showcased by the High Commission in temples at different Buddhist places of worship on every Poya day this year.

The inaugural exhibit, which was held at Kalutara Bodhi on Navam Poya on Feb. 23, was appreciated by over a thousand devotees.
