Matara and Monaragala Government Officers Trained on Grassroots Implementation of ‘Prajashakthi’
The ‘Prajashakthi’ programme is currently being implemented at the grassroots level by establishing Community Development Councils in every village.
A key responsibility for advancing this initiative has been entrusted to officials of Divisional Secretariats and District Secretariats.
In parallel with the implementation of the ‘Prajashakthi’ National Movement to Eradicate Poverty, another phase of the capacity-building and awareness programme for government officers attached to District and Divisional Secretariats commenced yesterday (16) at the Ranminithenna Tele Cinema Village. The programme will continue until today (17).
Government officers from the Matara and Monaragala Districts are participating in this programme. They are being briefed on key aspects of implementing the ‘Prajashakthi’ National Movement, establishing Community Development Councils, and the role of government officers in empowering communities and strengthening local participation.
The programme is jointly organised by the Prajashakthi Secretariat and the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, and is scheduled to be implemented across all nine provinces of Sri Lanka. To date, government officers from eight provinces have completed the training.
