Samrat Choudhary sworn-in as Bihar’s CM
Samrat Choudhary took the oath of office to become the first Chief Minister of Bihar from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain administered the oath of office to Mr. Choudhary at the Lok Bhawan in Patna.
JD(U) leaders Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav also took oath as Ministers. Both the JD(U) leaders will assume charge as Deputy CMs.
Mr. Samrat Choudhary was elected as the leader of the BJP and NDA Legislature Parties on Tuesday, following days of suspense and speculation, and an hour after Nitish Kumar officially resigned as Bihar’s longest serving Chief Minister. Mr. Kumar, the leader of the JD (U), became a Rajya Sabha MP last week.
There were talks and speculation earlier that Nishant Kumar, son of Nitish Kumar, who recently joined JD (U), might take oath as one of the Dy CMs of the State.
